He’s wild! He’s wacky! He’s Cowboy Hersh, the singing cowboy for kids, delighting young audiences and families at schools, libraries, festivals, and private parties.

Cowboy Hersh is the alter ego of a veteran Denver singer/songwriter/ performer with many years of experience playing everything from rock to reggae to klezmer. He has performed for special audiences through Artreach, and played for several years with Bonnie Phipps and the Elastic Band, an internationally-recognized children’s entertainer. He brings his experience as a performer—and a parent—to the goofy persona of Cowboy Hersh. Armed with a variety of instruments, an irreverent sense of humor, and a genuine rapport with children, the Hersh-Man gets kids singing along and whooping with delight.

A typical Cowboy Hersh performance might include a foot-stomping mandolin version of “Turkey in the Straw,” a poignant ode to Mexican food (“Have a Tortilla,” to the tune of “Hava Nagila”), and a ukulele rendering of “I’m an Old Cowhand,” complete with backup singers culled from the audience. In between songs, children learn about the different instruments, musical genres, and the Old West. Guaranteed to be the silliest, funniest cowboy around!
